Production information for performing artists play an integral part in the production of the show. Most of the time, this information is emailed to the venue from the band and/or its manager. Though this system works, the production info can be lost in the communication between band and venue. By putting a band’s production info within their own site, the production information is easily accessed, and can be viewed from anyone with access to the band’s website.
I interviewed talent buyers, venue owners, musicians and others in the music industry. From the data I received I was able to build an empathy map to get a clearer picture of user’s needs when navigating a band’s website.
Tenth Mountain Division’s website has already been designed, but didn’t have a good flow, particularly in accommodating a new production page for production staff to easily access. For the landing page, I took influence from the band Seu Paparude’s website. I liked this band’s website because it had a clear flow for people interested in the band -with the band’s up coming shows clearly presented at the bottom of the hero image, along with easy navigation.
The information architecture of Tenth Mountain Divisions site is simple. Each page has it's respected need, especially the production page which includes a request hyperlink for the band's band rider. Band rider's can include personal information about the band and crew that shouldn't public.
I sketched a new landing page for the website, along with their new production page. I took into account the design style Tenth Mountain Division already had with their previous site, and tried to stay consistent with their design style.
My paper wireframes acted as a precedent for the rest of my design. The following lo-fi wireframes are the first digital iterations of the band’s landing page and production page.
I tested the new site and production page with talent buyers and production staff. The task was simple enough, from the landing page, navigate to the production page and request access to the production information. I saw a 100% success rate, but there were some valuable notes that the testers mentioned while navigating the newly designed website.
Once the digital wireframes were finished, it was time to add some color and style to the design. I developed a UI Kit as a placeholder for fonts, color schemes, button sizes and styled and iconography.
From my initial wireframes and the improvements done to them through usability testing, with the addition of the assets and styles my UI kit, I was able to start bringing to life the final design for Tenth Mountain Division’s new band website and production page.
Amidst a decade of nation-wide performance and touring in rock bands, I incorporate a computer’s keyboard to my collection of musical keyboards. With hands-on involvement in engaging audiences and bringing novel experiences to the stage, I bring an intense work ethic and an unsatiating thirst to improve and impress in web and product design.
I design beautiful and useful digital products that guides the users intention and attention through your product and for your company. The contemporary business needs digital products to solve active problems, and a good website to promote and sell that product. I will make sure you have both. Through Figma, I provide wireframes to prototypes on any level of fidelity, and can accommodate any quick adjustments requested before an approved development.
I build websites in Webflow where I can create fully responsive and customized websites, specialized for the needs of your user, viewer and client. Plus, all Webflow sites have the ability for you and your team to edit content quickly and easily.
